Afraqua impact

Food Security & Nutrition

• We will enhance food security and nutrition by providing tilapia, a highly efficient source of protein and essential nutrients, to the domestic market.
• We will reduce the pressure on wild ocean fisheries, supporting marine conservation efforts.

Female Empowerment

• We promote female employment and training, aligning with global trends in aquaculture’s high female workforce participation.
• We will enable indirect employment through a mobile app connecting women (primarily mothers) to our logistics and delivery network, with over 80% of market trade partners expected to be women.

Outgrowers/

Smallholders

• We create a market for local smallhold rice farmers to supply rice bran as feed, generating additional income and employment.
• By developing a seaweed outgrower program, we will be able to provide sustainable income and new employment opportunities for local villages.

Carbon Footprint

• We will target zero compound feed use in the grow-out phase, reducing our carbon footprint by up to 80%.
• We plan to implement an ultra-low carbon energy model, using solar power for pumping, freezing, and cold storage, and producing biodiesel and biogas from processing waste.
• Promotes carbon capture through seaweed cultivation.
